The process uses steerable drill heads, locating systems and drilling fluid to bore precisely defined routes safely underground.
The drilling often takes place in environmentally sensitive areas, where the focus lies on processes that are as gentle as possible. This includes considering the choice of the lubricants used.
The requirements differ - in closed hydraulic systems, the lubricant only escapes in the event of a failure, whereas lubricating the drill rods, for example, is a total-loss lubrication process, in which the lubricant remains in the environment.
